Fujian wants to promote integrated development with Taiwan
East China's Fujian province is actively exploring ways to set an example of promoting integrated development across the Taiwan Straits and develop the region into a preferred destination for Taiwan residents and businesses on the Chinese mainland, a senior official said during the 11th Straits Forum on Sunday in Xiamen, Fujian.
Yu Weiguo, Party chief of Fujian province, said while fully implementing the 31 preferential policies and 66 measures, Fujian has put forward 42 new measures to enhance economic and trade links, boost mutual exchanges of energy and resources, promote the mutual application of industrial standards, and provide the same service to Taiwan residents as those on the mainland.
Fujian will put forward more policies and measures according to the needs of Taiwan residents and businesses in Fujian so they can better enjoy the opportunities and achievements of Fujian's development, Yu said.
Yu made the remarks at the forum, which is an annual gathering initiated in 2009 to enhance people-to-people interaction across the Straits.
This year, more than 10,000 people from a wide range of sectors in Taiwan signed up for the event, the largest number the forum has ever seen.
