China warns schools against students' drowning
BEIJING -- China's education authority issued a warning Friday, asking local education administrations and schools nationwide to prevent students from drowning as the temperature is rising and the flood season is coming.
The warning was released by the office of the education supervision commission of the State Council following several student drownings in provincial-level areas including Yunnan and Hainan.
The office asked relevant departments to target dangerous waters, eliminate potential danger via thorough inspections, issue warnings on a regular basis and be prepared for emergency response.
Schools should carry out various forms of safety education based on their local conditions to improve students' awareness of self-protection, as well as their parents' or guardians' sense of responsibility.
