A China Southern Airlines chartered plane carrying 1.46 tons of medical supplies left Shanghai's Pudong International Airport for Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on Tuesday midnight.
China Southern said that it took just two hours to arrange the chartered flight after accepting the task of delivering the medical resources on Monday night.
The supplies, which include disposable virus sampling tubes and protective suits, arrived in Urumqi five hours later.
Since July 20, China Southern has transported 14.5 tons of insulated clothing, protective suits, virus sampling tubes and medication from Shanghai to Urumqi to help the latter with its COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
