Endangered gibbons find food pantry in Yunnan

A video clip recently captured critically endangered western black crested gibbons (Nomascus concolor) gorging on petals and buds of various flowers in Jingdong county of Pu'er, Yunnan province.?
The video was shot by Zhou Yuezhong, a patrolman from the Dazhaizi monitoring station of Wuliang Mountain and Ailao Mountain National Nature Reserve.
In recent years, as the ecological environment has improved, Jingdong county has become something of a food pantry for the gibbons.?
According to a 2021 survey data, there are 104 groups of western black crested gibbons in the Wuliang Mountain area. Of those, 90 groups found in Jingdong county.
