The total number of infections in Beijing's latest COVID-19 outbreak, which began on April 22, has surpassed the total in the city's Xinfadi outbreak in 2020, municipal government spokesperson Xu Hejian said on Wednesday.
The 2020 Xinfadi epidemic, related to a wholesale produce market, was the previous largest COVID-19 outbreak in Beijing.
Xu said Beijing has been reporting around 50 cases for several consecutive days.
"Beijing has done several rounds of mass nucleic acid tests in communities and has an understanding of the hidden transmission situations in communities," he added.
