RIYADH - Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived here Wednesday afternoon to attend the first China-Arab States Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council summit, and pay a state visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
After Xi's plane entered Saudi airspace, four fighter jets from the Royal Saudi Air Force took off to escort it. Six other jets then accompanied the flight as it took to the sky over Riyadh.
As Xi's plane arrived at the King Khalid International Airport, the Saudi side greeted him with a grand and warm welcome and a 21-gun salute was fired.
