NPC to hold its next full plenary session in March
A decision on convening the first plenary session of the 14th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, was adopted at a session of the NPC Standing Committee on Friday. According to the decision, the NPC full session will kick off in Beijing on March 5.
The first session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, has been suggested to begin on March 4 in Beijing. The suggestion was approved at a recent Chairperson's Council meeting of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.
The session of the NPC Standing Committee, which concluded on Friday, also decided that the committee will submit a draft revision to the Legislation Law to the next year's NPC annual session for review. The draft amendment has been read by the committee twice.
In China, generally speaking, a draft becomes a law after being read three times by the NPC Standing Committee. If a law is closely related with people's interests and fundamental national issues, it will need to be reviewed by all NPC members instead of just being adopted by the committee.
