PLA to hold live-fire drills on China-Myanmar border

A spokesperson with the People's Liberation Army announced on Saturday that live-fire drills will be conducted in the Chinese side of the China-Myanmar border.
Senior Colonel Tian Junli, spokesperson for the PLA's Southern Theater Command, said that in accordance with the annual training plan, the theater command has organized army units to conduct the live-fire drills which start on Saturday.
He said the purpose of these drills is to test the rapid mobility, border control, and firepower capabilities of the military units of the theater command.
Tian emphasized that the forces of the theater command are always prepared to respond to all kinds of emergencies, to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, border stability, and the people's lives and property.
