Books worth 1.4 million yuan donated to rural schools in China
About one million yuan ($139,330) and books worth 1.4 million yuan will be donated to provide nearly 140,000 students from 20 rural schools in China with online financial education, according to DBS Foundation.
The donation project aims to enhance rural students' skills for sustainable development in the future, said Ginger Cheng, CEO of DBS Bank (China), at the launching ceremony of the project at Dianchanglu Primary School in Beijing's Shijingshan district on Tuesday.
"We hope that more urban and rural youths will have equitable access to better education and are able to break out of the poverty cycle," she said.
The bank, which established the DBS foundation, cooperated with China Guanghua Science and Technology Foundation (GHSTF) to improve the financial and digital literacy of young people, and help them better participate in urban and rural communities, it said.
