Xizang leads the way in clean energy
More than 99 percent of electricity in Xizang autonomous region has been generated by clean energy, the highest of all regions in the country, according to the State Grid Xizang Electric Power Company.
The region has supplied a total of more than 15.4 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy electricity to other regions nationwide from 2015 to the end of September this year, the equivalent of reducing carbon dioxide emission by 13.24 million metric tons and sulfur dioxide emission by 360,000 tons.
The total capacity of the region's power grid has reached 7.18 million kilowatts by September, up by 6.16 million kw in 2012.
It has established a comprehensive new energy power generation system consisting of water, geothermal, wind and solar power.
The region's power grid has supplied electricity to more than 3.5 million people last year, up by 1.75 million people in 2012.
