ChinaJoy 2025, also known as the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference, is set to be held from Aug 1 to 4 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
Themed "Gather What You Love", this year's event will bring together 743 enterprises from around the world, including 237 foreign-funded entities from 37 countries and regions, alongside leading global game developers, hardware manufacturers, and enthusiasts.
As a pivotal gathering in Shanghai, ChinaJoy plays a crucial role in driving the city's rapidly expanding online gaming sector.
Last year, Shanghai's online gaming industry amassed sales revenue of 155.8 billion yuan ($21.7 billion), marking a 7.8 percent year-on-year increase and its 13th consecutive year of growth, with the industry expanding eightfold in scale.
This year's event will debut an intelligent and entertainment robotic zone and launch the Global AI Game Developer Competition, offering a practical and demonstrative platform for the industry to explore the deep integration of gaming and artificial intelligence technologies.
At the same time, the inaugural China International Game Developers Conference (CIGDC) will be introduced, fostering communication and collaboration between Chinese and international gaming enterprises.
Nearly 100 renowned overseas companies will convene in Shanghai, conducting over a dozen activities, including dedicated sessions for international exchanges and one-on-one business negotiations.
The establishment of CIGDC in Shanghai aims to elevate the Chinese gaming industry onto the global market, underscoring its importance and influence, while serving as a guiding beacon for global game development.
In addition to exhibitions, ChinaJoy 2025 is closely integrated with the city to create fresh consumer experiences, fueling Shanghai's anime craze and drawing gaming and anime enthusiasts from around the world to converge and enjoy a vibrant fusion of anime, gaming culture, and urban life.
