Authorities release action plan for building of a green China

China has released an action plan for the building of a livable, green and safe environment to better safeguard public health, with work to begin immediately.
The plan, released by the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration and 14 other government departments on Tuesday, entails specific goals to be achieved by 2030, such as improving the quality of drinking water, raising the environmental and health literacy of residents, promoting household waste classification and controlling indoor air pollution.
In a statement accompanying the document, the administration explained that the global warming trend has posed challenges for building healthy environments.
The action plan has focused on addressing environmental issues that have particularly harmful impacts on people’s health, the statement added.
