Mumu Theater marked its first anniversary with a special event on Saturday, providing a traditional Chinese culture experience to children.

The event attracted around 50 families. Children lined up to have their faces painted as Peking Opera characters and began their journey into the exploration of this ancient art form.

Screenwriter Han Yuechao, from the stage production, Children's Theatre 3: The Transformation of Bajie, introduced the children's play to the audience, from live shows, the origins, classic roles, to the costumes of Peking Opera, as well as inviting the Peking Opera actors to demonstrate the movements of the ancient art form, making the transmission of traditional cultural knowledge both fun and engaging.

Since its opening on Aug 16, 2024, Mumu Theater, a brainchild of Star Theaters, a popular performing arts venue in downtown Beijing, which is known for its stage productions designed for smaller theaters, has launched a series of events, becoming one of the most popular performing arts venues in the capital's Tongzhou district, including dramas, stand-up comedy shows, and Peking Opera activities.
