During the military parade on Wednesday, more than 10,000 military personnel, along with over 100 aircraft and hundreds of ground armaments, were arranged into 45 formations and echelons according to a wartime command system, Xinhua News Agency reported. Most of the PLA's new system of services and arms was put on display for the first time.

The advanced armaments that were on display included unmanned intelligence and counter-unmanned equipment, hypersonic missiles, directed-energy weapons, electronic jamming systems and strategic weaponry capable of global strikes.

Among them were land-, sea-and air-based strategic forces as the nuclear triad, including the JingLei-1 air-based long-range missile, the JuLang-3 submarine-launched intercontinental missile, the DongFeng-61 land-based intercontinental missile, and the new type DongFeng-31 land-based intercontinental missile. The weapons are considered to be China's strategic "ace" power to safeguard the country's sovereignty and the nation's dignity.

Chinese soldiers who have participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations made their first appearance in a V-Day parade.

Ahead of the start of the V-Day commemorations, Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, greeted the heads of foreign delegations and their spouses and had a group photo taken.

Xi signed an order on Wednesday to commend all personnel who participated in the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
