Beijing Daxing International Airport, a major aviation hub, has set a new record as of Saturday by handling over 50 million passenger trips in a year for the first time since its opening in 2019, according to the airport on Sunday.

As of Saturday, the airport had managed a total of 322,500 flight movements and welcomed 50.08 million passenger trips this year. This represents an 8.41 percent increase in passenger trips compared to the same period in 2024. The number of international and regional passengers reached nearly 5.5 million, a substantial year-on-year increase of 25.39 percent.

Since beginning operations six years ago, the airport has facilitated over 193 million passenger journeys and more than 1.41 million flights.

The airport's growing passenger numbers are supported by a continuously expanding route network. It now hosts 70 domestic and international airlines operating nearly 190 routes to about 180 destinations across 25 countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Several new international routes have been launched or resumed this year, including services to Casablanca, Bandar Seri Begawan, Ho Chi Minh City, Dushanbe, and Muscat. Chinese carriers like China Southern, China Eastern, Xiamen Air, and China United have initiated over 30 international through-flight services from Daxing. The airport has also introduced inter-airline through-check services for international routes, allowing seamless baggage transfer and single-ticket journeys. From January to November, international transfer passengers at Daxing exceeded 840,000, with 78 percent utilizing these through-check services.

To improve travel, the airport has added faster security lanes, more flight options, and better transport links to the city. It has also introduced services like help for elderly passengers and cultural exhibitions for visitors.

The airport aims to continue improving the travel experience for all passengers, it said.
