Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun on Friday dismissed recent remarks by some United Nations human rights experts, urging them to respect basic facts and avoid being misled by anti-China forces.

He made the comments at a daily news briefing after experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council on Thursday expressed deep concern regarding what they described as persistent allegations of forced labor in China's Xinjiang Uygur and Xizang autonomous regions.

Guo said that the Chinese government has demonstrated a consistent commitment to promoting and protecting human rights, and that the development and progress achieved in Xinjiang and Xizang are plain for all to see and should not be subject to distortion.

He added that the concerns raised by certain experts are entirely fabricated and have no basis in fact.

Guo urged the UN experts to abide by the code of conduct for special procedures and perform their duties in an objective and impartial manner.
