Exports of new energy vehicles, photovoltaic products, and lithium batteries from the Xizang autonomous region recorded an impressive surge in the first quarter of 2026, according to Lhasa Customs.

Exports in this category reached 72.73 million yuan ($10.63 million), reflecting a year-on-year increase of 23.92 percent. The rapid growth of these products highlights Xizang's deepening integration into global markets, particularly through its vital trade passage with South Asia, according to the customs.

The positive figures are a direct result of continuous improvements to the business environment at local ports, alongside initiatives aimed at addressing enterprise-specific requirements.

To support this momentum, Lhasa Customs has implemented customized measures to help these green energy technologies expand internationally, including simplifying declaration procedures, streamlining logistics processes, and reinforcing on-site supervision. It also introduced a "cloud identification" project for hazardous exports such as lithium batteries. The move has shortened identification times while maintaining stringent safety standards.
