Northeast China's Jilin province is stepping up efforts to strengthen its ice and snow economy during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), utilizing its abundant winter resources to drive tourism, sports, culture, and equipment manufacturing.

The province has promoted integrated growth across the entire ice and snow industrial chain. During the latest snow season, Jilin ranked first nationwide in both the number of detachable ski lifts and ski visits, while three ski resorts each received more than one million visits.

The province also leads China in the number of national-level ski tourism resorts, while its ice and snow tourism scale, related enterprises, and winter sports participation all rank among the country's top performers.

Looking ahead, Jilin plans to further expand the influence of its winter economy by taking advantage of the upcoming Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade. The province will upgrade competition venues and supporting infrastructure, improve transportation links, and develop smarter scenic areas featuring multilingual guides and one-stop reservation services.

Jilin will also continue building differentiated winter tourism zones. The central and eastern regions will focus on ski and leisure resorts around Changchun and the Changbai Mountain area, while the western regions will develop brands centered on the Chagan Lake Fishing and Hunting Cultural Tourism Festival and ice sports. Signature events such as the Jilin International Ice & Snow Tourism Industry Expo will further enrich the province's winter tourism offerings.
