First homemade artificial heart to appear next year

China's first homemade artificial heart is expected to be available next year, the Guangzhou Daily reported.
The Artificial Heart Laboratory in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, invested 88 million yuan ($12million) in the project and one artificial heart is expected to be valued at 600,000 yuan ($87,840), according to the report.
"The price of homemade hearts is rather competitive compared to imported ones. The artificial heart techniques will acquire its own intellectual property rights soon", said Xiang Tiangong, head of the laboratory.
