The Yan'an Rectification Movement was the first ideological mass movement initiated by the Communist Party of China, spanning a period from 1941 to 1945. The movement took place at the communist base at Yan'an, a remote mountainous area in northern Shaanxi, after the communists' Long March. On May 5, 1942, Mao Zedong and other top leaders posed for a group photo with artists who attended a forum on arts in Yan'an. [Photo/ The history of the Communist Party of China]
