Although nominated for Best New Performer at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance "Best of the Best," Sammi Cheng lost out to Anita Yuen. Later, with "Needing You," "Wu Yen," "Summer Holidays" and "Song of Everlasting Sorrow," Sammi Cheng has received nominations at Hong Kong Film Awards, Golden Horse Awards and Asia Pacific Film Festival. Except for her performance in "Wu Yen," which brought the Best Actress award from the Hong Kong Film Critics Society to Cheng, her other nominations did not go any further.
