China has banned its athletes from taking part in
all kinds of social activities in the run-up to Beijing Olympics,
according to report on Thursday.
"In order to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, our country's
athletes, including celebrity athletes, are banned from participating in
all kinds of social activities," the China Sports Daily quoted Sports
Minister Liu Peng as saying.
"Athletes who participate in social activities are relatively easily
distracted. If this is not regulated, it may interfere with their training
and be detrimental to Beijing Olympic preparations," Liu said.
"But exceptions will stand if they get the permission from the SGAS in
advance," he added.
China holds its athletes to strict standards of conduct in the run-up
to the Olympic Games.
Olympic diving gold medallist Tian Liang was kicked off the national
team in 2005 for taking part in a rash of television ads and endorsements.
In May, Olympic champion hurdler Liu Xiang came under fire for signing
a deal with the Baisha corporation, a tobacco giant.
Chinese sports authorities keep a low key about the country's prospect
of topping the Olympic medals table in 2008, but they are deploying their
full forces to fulfill the mission.
"We face a very stern test
at the 2008 Olympics," said Liu. "Everybody should stay focused."

本周四消息，中國有關(guān)管理部門規(guī)定，現(xiàn)役運(yùn)動(dòng)員在備戰(zhàn)北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)期間，不得參加任何形式的社會(huì)活動(dòng)。
《中國體育報(bào)》援引國家體育總局局長劉鵬的話說：“為了備戰(zhàn)2008年北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)，包括明星運(yùn)動(dòng)員在內(nèi)的所有現(xiàn)役運(yùn)動(dòng)員不得參加任何社會(huì)活動(dòng)?！?
劉鵬局長說：“運(yùn)動(dòng)員參加社會(huì)活動(dòng)比較容易分心。如不對此加以規(guī)范，運(yùn)動(dòng)員的訓(xùn)練將會(huì)受到干擾，不利于奧運(yùn)會(huì)的備戰(zhàn)?！?
“對于一些確實(shí)有必要出席的社會(huì)活動(dòng)，需報(bào)經(jīng)國家體育總局批準(zhǔn)方可參加?！?
在備戰(zhàn)奧運(yùn)期間，國家對現(xiàn)役運(yùn)動(dòng)員進(jìn)行了較為嚴(yán)格的管理。
2005年，奧運(yùn)會(huì)跳水冠軍田亮因頻繁參加商業(yè)活動(dòng)而被國家隊(duì)除名。
今年5月，奧運(yùn)會(huì)跨欄冠軍劉翔因代言白沙煙草集團(tuán)而遭到指責(zé)。
中國體育運(yùn)動(dòng)管理部門對于奪得2008年奧運(yùn)會(huì)金牌榜冠軍一直保持著比較低調(diào)的態(tài)度，但他們?nèi)栽跒榇巳σ愿啊?
劉鵬局長說：“中國體育軍團(tuán)在2008年奧運(yùn)會(huì)上將會(huì)受到嚴(yán)峻考驗(yàn)。所以，備戰(zhàn)期間任何人都不能松懈。”
