Tsinghua University's School of Materials cooperated with Pingchuan government to establish a research center in Pingchuan district, Gansu province, informed an official.

The research center will study the ceramic and new materials for construction and other industries.

Zhang Shizhen, the vice-chairman of Gansu Provincial Committee of People's Political Consultative Conference and Pan Wei, the Party chief of School of Materials at Tsinghua University unveiled the nameplate of the center on Oct 9, which marked the establishment of the center.

According to Pingchuan government, the cooperation with Tsinghua University is expected to boost the ceramic development in Pingchuan. As number one school of its kind in nation, the School of Materials at Tsinghua University owns national level ceramic laboratory and has made many research achievements in ceramic, energy materials and biological materials.

Pingchuan district is a prominent ceramics producer in Gansu province, and it is expected to build two more industrial parks. The district will add another 30 ceramics assembly line to achieve an annual output exceeding 3 billion yuan during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, said the official.
