The Qiantang River in Eastern China's Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang province, is renowned worldwide for its annual tidal bores caused by the gravitational pull of the moon during autumn time.

Each year, a traditional tidal-bore-watching festival is held on the 18th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar (around mid-September), when people across the country flock to the city for a sight of the world's largest bores.

Here we take you for a walk down memory lane to review the soaring tides over the past years.
