Liang Jun, 85, who was China's first female tractor driver and is well-known for being the model for the image featured on the 1 yuan note from the third set of renminbi banknotes issued in 1960, was hospitalized for acute heart failure earlier this month. She is now in recovery after a week of treatment.

Liang was also a member of the first group of national model workers after the founding of new China. Liang said she is willing to participate in social activities despite her failing health. Her doctor said Liang is over the crisis and shows improvement after emergency treatments.
