Five-division world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather arrived Thursday in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.
Instead of training some of the cuddly bears to be kung fu pandas, the 40-year-old American legend adopted a female panda with a pet name of "Mao Mao" born July 26, 2016, in the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
"He named the cub 'TMT Floyd Mayweather,'" said Chen Chengdu, an information officer in the base.
After signing the adoption agreement, Mayweather toured the base and fed the adopted panda a piece of apple with a bamboo pole, she said.
