It was a real honor for me to listen to President Xi Jinping's speech at the opening ceremony of the second China International Import Expo.

Xi put forward exciting and aspirational measures for further open collaboration, which made us feel fully confident of the development prospects of China's economy and the country's medical and healthcare markets.

No single country can ever tackle the difficulty facing the development of the world economy by itself, and this is also true for any player in the medical and healthcare fields.

There is not a single country that can supply itself with all the solutions to fight against diseases for its people. Instead, it requires global wisdom and efforts to conquer challenges from diseases.

Amid China's progress of deepening reform and opening-up, Roche is determined to continue to set roots in the country for further development. By higher involvement in global new drug research and development, we expect more innovative drugs will be homegrown from China and benefit Chinese patients as well as those around the globe.
