Shanghai Spring Festival travel returns to 2019 levels

A total of 43.54 million passenger trips were handled in Shanghai during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush that lasted until Tuesday (March 5), up 53 percent from the same period of a year ago, approaching the level of 2019, according to data from the municipal government's Spring Festival transport office.
Passenger flow in the rail transit via Shanghai accounted for 65.4 percent among all trips, leading 31.5 percent of passenger trips by air and 3.1 percent by road, according to the office.
28.5 million passenger trips were made by railway, hitting a record high, while those taking planes and roads were 13.7 million passenger trips and 1.35 million passenger trips, respectively.
