In China, 90 percent of the sea turtle population resides in the South China Sea, of which green sea turtles account for over 80 percent of the total. The Beidao sea turtle protection center in Sansha, Hainan province has long been working on the research of green sea turtle populations, as well as turtle ecology and conservation biology.
