"We aim to cultivate innovative and interdisciplinary talent with passion, not narrow specialists," said Shing-Tung Yau, Fields Medal laureate and dean of Tsinghua's Qiuzhen College, during a recent exclusive interview with China Daily. The institution, which was launched in October 2020 with the approval of the central authorities, is dedicated to cultivating talent in mathematics.
Yau emphasized an interdisciplinary educational model that nurtures innovative talents with broad knowledge and open minds, rather than students confined to a single discipline. Click the video to learn more.
