Beijing Capital International Airport to see over 1 million passenger trips during holiday
Beijing Capital International Airport is expected to handle over one million passenger trips during the upcoming five-day May Day holiday, which will begin on Friday, as demand rises for travel and family visits, the airport said on Tuesday.
From Friday to May 5, the airport is projected to handle an average of 204,500 passenger trips per day, with 6,160 flights scheduled during the period, or about 1,232 flights daily.
The projected holiday traffic highlights the continued recovery of air travel demand and Beijing's role as one of China's key international aviation gateways, as the country further facilitates passenger flows and expands global air connectivity.
Li Guangxi, an operations duty supervisor at the airport's operations control center, said the outbound travel peak is expected on Friday, when the airport is forecast to handle about 224,500 passenger trips and 1,296 flight movements.
"The return peak is expected on May 5, with about 223,500 arriving and departing passenger trips and 1,285 flight movements," Li said.
